Hello first post so please be gentle

i am running Cloudberry backup to copy backups of our Quickbooks Company file to Amazon s3.

today i had to restore an old file so i downloaded from Amazon S3 but couldn't restore the file

i then ran the recovery option in Cloudberry and was able to restore the file - i'm sure this was because i was then able to decrypt the file through Cloudberry restore.

now the cloudberry install sits on the same server as Quickbooks, and this got me thinking if this server died how would i successfully recover the files via cloudberry as it appears i can't download direct from Amazon and restore i need cloudberry

    Hi Matthew

of course you can't download directly from Amazon and restore.
just install another copy of CloudBerry Backup on another PC. You can install 15 day trial (it will work just fine) http://www.cloudberrylab.com/backup

Register the same Amazon S3 account and choose the same bucket and the *prefix* in advanced settings. By default the prefix is set to your old computer name.

When you restore the files specify the same encryption password as you used to back up the files.

check out here for more details

    Hi Matthew,
If anything happens to your server you can download Cloudberry Backup on any other server, configure AWS account there and point it to the same bucket where you backed it up and after that, by picking the right prefix from the drop-down menu you will be able to get the list of backed up files and restore some or all of them.
Andy has provided the right link (see above).
